Balancing Life Blog

Growing, grounding, and finding balance together

🌿 Welcome to the beginning of this blog. This is a space where real life and reflection meet — where I’ll share my own journey of learning, unlearning, and finding balance along the way. My hope is that as I write, you’ll find moments that remind you that you’re not alone, that your balance matters, and that it’s okay if it looks different in every season. I don’t come here as someone with all the answers, but as someone who is walking this out right alongside you — leaning on faith, choosing growth, and returning again and again to what truly anchors me.

Beginning with Balance:

Starting a blog feels a little like opening the door to my inner world. I want this space to be a place where you can pause, reflect, and maybe even find something that speaks to your own journey. And it only feels right to begin with something that has shaped me deeply: balance.

Realizing I was Off Balance:

For a long time, I didn’t feel like I had an anchor. Life was busy, full of responsibilities and expectations, and I just moved through it—doing what needed to be done but never really feeling grounded. I was exhausted, easily irritated, and often disconnected from joy. Even laughter, something that used to come so naturally, felt distant.

Looking back, I can see that I was off balance. And the truth is, it’s hard to notice when you’re in it—because “off balance” can begin to feel like normal.

Discovering the Need for an Anchor:

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how much I need an anchor. Without one, I lose my sense of steadiness. I drift from one thing to the next, and no matter how much I do, it never feels like enough.

That’s when I began to turn more intentionally toward my faith. Allowing God to be my anchor has been life-changing. The more I lean into Him, the more balanced I feel. Life’s ups and downs haven’t disappeared, but I face them differently now—with a steadiness that doesn’t come from me alone.

Balance That Grows With You:

What I’ve come to learn is that balance isn’t a one-time achievement. It’s not something you “find” and keep forever. It shifts as life changes. Some seasons require more rest, others more connection. But what holds true for me is this: right now, God is the anchor I need most. And as I grow in my faith, my ability to return to balance grows with it.

A Therapist’s Acknowledgment:

Even as a therapist—someone others look to for help and healing—I need to remind myself that I, too, must care for my own well-being. I am always working on my balance. My clients often hear me say that we can’t pour into others if we aren’t also pouring into ourselves, and I hold myself to that truth as well.

Balance will forever be changing, but making sure we have the necessities around us to keep us anchored and supported is what allows us to show up—not just for others, but for ourselves.

Reflection for Your Journey

**If you’re reading this, I would like to pause and acknowledge something: if you’ve felt off balance, you are not alone. Every one of us experiences it, even those who seem to “have it all together.” The real strength comes in recognizing it and choosing to return to what steadies you.

Here are a few gentle prompts you might sit with:

  • What are the signs that tell me I’m off balance?

  • Where do I feel most anchored, most at peace?

  • What might it look like for me to lean into that anchor more often?

Practical Ways to Restore Balance

  • Pause and breathe – Take five minutes in the morning or evening just to check in with yourself.

  • Reconnect with your anchor – Whether that’s faith, family, journaling, or quiet time, lean into what grounds you.

  • Choose one thing that brings joy – It could be a walk, a favorite song, or a short phone call with a friend.

  • Give yourself grace – Balance isn’t a fixed destination; it’s a practice of coming back to yourself, again and again.

This blog is the beginning of something new—both for me and, I hope, for you. My hope is that this space becomes a reminder that balance is possible, even in the busyness and challenges of life.

For me, finding balance starts with my faith and my relationship with God. For you, it might look different. But whatever your anchor may be, I hope you continue to come back to it—again and again—until it becomes the steady ground you can always trust. See you in the next blog friend.
